I've just finished putting together a new reel of my character animation
Lightwave, Messiah, After Effects, Photoshop, and lots of caffeine were the
I originally intended to spend 1 or 2 hours on it, maximum. But... I got caught up in the details and it ended up taking much longer (more like 8 hours.) So, as a speed-painting experiment, it's a failure. But I like the final result and am glad that I spent the extra time on it.

I did this painting recently for a client. I was given a writen brief, describing the character and setting, as well as certain style guidelines (dramatic, dynamic, colorful, gritty, etc.) The character and scene captured my imagination, so I took the concept and ran with it - until I ended up with this image!

You could call this piece 2-and-a-half-D, because I created a 3D mockup of the scene in 3ds max and then painted over it in Photoshop.

This painting was a valuable learning experience for me, as well as a personal test of my abilities. I set my goals high on this one, pushing myself to create an image as detailed and polished as I could. What do you think? Peace,

Character Portraits, Rise & Fall

Hey everyone,
It's been a long time since I've added new artwork to my portfolio, but now I have some goodies to share! I've updated my website with images of character models which I made while working at Stainless Steel Studios on the game "Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War"
The above pic is a sample, more can be found on my portfolio site. These characters were modeled in 3ds Max, textured in Photoshop using a combination of photo reference and hand painting, and animated with Character Studio.
At some point I will also add a reel of character animation I did for the game as well. Probably after I get back from my volunteering excursion in India.
Here is the link to my website: www.sanhueza.com
Here is a link to the game: Rise & Fall
Enjoy!
